Members of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece’s permanent Holy Synod convened for a second straight day on Tuesday, while no announcement was made after Monday’s session.
The Holy Synod’s sessions will conclude on Wednesday.

Although the issues on the agenda are considered as routine, the Holy Synod convened in the wake of a recent decision by the Holy Synod of the Moscow Patriarchate to suspend full communion with Archbishop Ieronymos.

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill, on Sunday declined to commemorate His Beatitude Ieronymos in prayers during the Divine Liturgy at Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the first time that the Greek Primate’s name was omitted since the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece confirmed the latter’s right to personal deal with the issue of autocephaly for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
