Metropolises around Greece continue stepped up efforts to aid those in need amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the strict restrictions in place in the east Mediterranean country against non-essential movement in public.
The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece, along with individual Metropolises around the country, continues to hold blood drives, to deliver meals door-to-door and to provide home assistance, as well as purchasing equipment for intensive care units and healthcare facilities. Support and contributions are constant, from the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople down to each individual hierarch, cleric and monk.
Indicatively, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, announced another donation of 50,000 euros for the needs of homeless people in Greece.
On his part, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, met with Athens Mayor Costas Bakoyannis, as both sides aim to intensify cooperation between the Archdiocese of Athens and the country’s biggest municipality for the delivery humanitarian aid to at-risk households.
