Today is the 2nd Friday after Pascha, Holy and Great Easter Sunday. The Church today venerates the memory of Jeremiah the Prophet.
This great Prophet of God loved his brethren and grieved for them greatly, praying for the people and the Holy City of Jerusalem. His book of prophecy is divided into 51 chapters, and his book of lamentation into five. Jeremiah is ranked second among the greater Prophets.
