The Church today venerates the memory of Righteous Father Hieronymus, for whom the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, takes his patronal name.
According to an announcement by the Archdiocese of Athens on Monday, due to precautions to prevent exposure to the coronavirus pandemic, His Beatitude will not be celebrating this year.
Monday also marks the feast day of Augustine the Blessed, Bishop of Hippo.
The Metropolitan of Germany, His Eminence Avgoustinos, takes his patronal name from this saint, although in similar fashion, no celebration is planned in order to maintain precautions against the Covid-19 virus.
