The Church today venerates the memory of the Holy and Righteous Ancestors of God, Joachim and Anna.

The celebration of the synaxis of Sts Joachim and Anna honours them as the parents of the most Holy Theotokos – a day after the commemoration of the Virgin Mary’s Nativity.
