The US House of Representatives last month recognized Oct. 19th as the 50th anniversary of the priesthood of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I.
On Tuesday, Illinois Congressman Darin LaHood (R-18th District) presented an official copy of the US Congressional Record from Sept. 25, 2019, recognizing the spiritual leader of Eastern Orthodox Christians throughout the world.
LaHood noted that “…His All Holiness was ordained as a priest on October 19th, 1969. Since that day, he has never ceased to make strides in religious studies and world peace. His services to our global society have had a positive impact on many lives”.
The Congressional Recognition was presented to the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, who will personally deliver it to His All Holiness.
