The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to new Greek president of the republic Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou.
In welcoming the Primate of the Church of Greece to the presidential mansion in central Athens, Sakellaropoulou first expressed her satisfaction over the visit, before adding that there are numerous issues up for discussion that affect the Church and nation.

She also referred to the difficult situation that society recently faced due to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the Church’s significant contribution to society and the state amid this difficult period.

On his part, Archbishop Ieronymos reminded that the Church of Greece stood by the decisions of state and public health authorities and respected experts’ recommendations during the pandemic, while also referring to the ordeal in holding church services without the presence of worshipers.
