Greek culture minister Lina Mendoni this week toured monuments and archaeological sites in the prefecture of Hania, on the large island of Crete.
Among others, Mendoni, a noted archaeologist and former ministry official, visited the Venetian Walls in Hania’s harbor, as well as the remnants of the St. Nicholas chapel within the medieval fortress.
During a meeting, Hania Mayor Panagiotis Simandirakis expressed the municipality’s satisfaction with the culture ministry’s initiatives to push through necessary studies for the restoration the chapel.
