The annual Day for Missing Persons from the 1974 Turkish invasion was commemorated on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Despite the intense efforts on the part of the island republic, the fate of 830 Greek Cypriots still remains unknown.
Cyprus’ presidential commissioner for humanitarian affairs, Fotis Fotiou, on Tuesday briefed members of Cyprus’ House of Representatives over the very sensitive issue. One new development that emerged this week is an announcement that the remains of 19 previously missing Greek nationals will be repatriated to Greece by early December.
