Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received the Metropolitan of Lefkada
On Thursday, 9 November 2023, His Eminence Metropolitan Theophilos of Lefkada and Ithaca, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate. He was accompanied by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni in Lefkada, Archimandrite Father Nikiforos, and other clergymen from his region. Also present were Mr. Athanasios Kavvadas and Mr. Charalampos Kalos, Member of Parliament and Mayor of Lefkada respectively, Mr. Dionysios Stanitsas, Mayor of Ithaca, and their associates.
The Metropolitan of Lefkada and Ithaca expressed his and his flock’s respect towards the Mother Church. Together with the Abbot and representatives of the Local Administration, he extended an invitation to the Ecumenical Patriarch to visit the Metropolis of Lefkada and Ithaca to preside over the celebration of the Monastery’s feast day, during the Feast of the Holy Spirit, as well as the municipalities of Lefkada and Ithaca.
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his gratitude to Metropolitan Theophilos and his entourage for the kind invitation, which he accepted.
It is worth noting that this will be the first official visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch to the Metropolis of Lefkada and Ithaca.
