While attending the patronal feast of St Paraskevi Church in Constantinople last Friday, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his love for the Romanian community under His Holiness’s jurisdiction, as well as for the entire Romanian Orthodox Church.

Additionally, the Patriarch of Constantinople announced that he was eagerly anticipating the events in Bucharest dedicated to the Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate.

“We love our daughter Church of Romania and we eagerly anticipate to personally participate in the official celebrations in Bucharest next year for the centennial of the elevation by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of the Autocephalous Church of Romania to the Patriarchal dignity,” His Holiness said.

“We honour our beloved brother, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, the wise pastor and erudite scholar, whom we recently congratulated on the occasion of his seventy-three (73) years of life this past Monday. We cherish our fraternal relations with His Beatitude, and we earnestly desire the relations between our two Churches to be always guided by the spirit of truth and love, as well as by the inalienable fundamental principles of our canonical tradition. ”

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended the patronal feast of Constantinople’s St Paraskevi Church, which was founded by Saint Constantine Brancoveanu.

Since 2004, the Saint Paraskevi Church in the Hasköy district has been the place of worship offered to the Romanian Orthodox community in Turkey for its pastoral needs.

The Romanian State has declared 2025 the Centennial Year of the Romanian Patriarchate. Among the festive events dedicated to the Centennial are the proclamation of several saints canonized by the Romanian Orthodox Church and the consecration of the National Cathedral.

Additionally, the sainthood of other Romanian monks who lived on Mount Athos might also be proclaimed, pending approval of their canonization by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
