The Ecumenical Patriarchate on Constantinople on Thursday congratulated new US President Joe Biden on his inauguration as the 46th president of the United States, while also praising two executive orders signed almost immediately after the new commander-and-chief sat down at the White House’s Oval Office, including the lifting of a travel ban imposed against 13 Muslim-majority states.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate also hailed the Biden administration’s decision to have the US rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.

The Ecumenical Patriarch, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, has been a very high-profile and prolific advocate for global environmental protection, ecological awareness and conservation, convening dozens of international and regional symposia and meetings on the subject.
