The Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on Mount Athos, spoke this week to the Athens-based Star television station, where His Most Reverend referred to the ongoing pandemic and the shocking conversion of the iconic Hagia Sophia Cathedral into a mosque.
The Elder Ephraim underlined that the coronavirus pandemic and other modern-day maladies are signs of the times. However, he also stressed that humanity must not despair.
Asked about the shocking decision by the Islamist Ergodan regime to convert the Hagia Sophia, the greatest of all basilicas in eastern Christendom, into a mosque, the Elder expressed his great disappointment.
