The theological significance and the teachings of the Church Fathers regarding the great feast of the Theophany of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, also known as the Holy Epiphany, which was celebrated this week under the Julian calendar, was cited this week by the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi.
The Elder Ephraim spoke in the Mount Athos monastery’s refectory regarding the feast day, which commemorates the Savior’s Baptism in the River Jordan, while also touching on the rejuvenating sacrament of baptism in man’s life.
