Elpidoforos on Fourth of July: Let us give thanks while remembering our Ecumenical Patriarch and everyone without freedom
In his first Fourth of July message as the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of America, the new Archbishop, His Eminence Elpidoforos, wrote on his social media accounts the following:
“…I grew up in a nation that doesn’t recognize Religious Freedom. As Christians, freedom must not be an excuse for laxity …On this great day of freedom and Independence let us give thanks while remembering our Ecumenical Patriarch and everyone without freedom.”
His Eminence’s reference was to Turkey.
