An exact replica of the miraculous Panaghia Vimatarissa Holy Icon, enshrined in the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on Mt. Athos, was greeted by the clergy and faithful on Thursday in the courtyard of the Piraeus Nursing Home. The replica of the Holy Icon will remain for veneration at the Cathedral of the Evangelistria, of Evangelism, in the port city of Piraeus.
The Holy Icon was conveyed by the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, and received by the Metropolitan of Piraeus, His Eminence Seraphim.
The Orthodoxia News Agency today hosts the video of the entire procession and welcoming of the Holy Icon to Piraeus, as well as portions of the addresses by His Eminence Seraphim and the Very Reverend Archimandrite Ephraim.
