Faithful see miracle with weeping Virgin Mary at Chicago’s Holy Trinity Cathedral

Dozens of faithful continued to flock to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Chicago’s Northwest Side this week, after the caretaker and then worshippers on Sunday witnessed what looked like tears pouring from the Virgin Mary’s eyes on a wall fresco.

The historic Cathedral faces foreclosure and was due to be on a bankruptcy court’s docket on Tuesday morning, local time. The incident has attracted increased local media attention.

The Metropolitan of Chicago, His Eminence Nathanael, inspected and confirmed the legitimacy of the tears. He reminded that the parish is roughly US$ 8 million in debt, which led it to declare bankruptcy and caused the bank to foreclose on the Church property.
