Feast day of Isidore, Martyr of Chios today

Today is the 4th Thursday after Pascha, Great and Holy Easter Sunday. The Church today venerates the memory of Isidore, the Martyr of Chios.
This saint was a 3rd century soldier who hailed from Alexandria. He arrived with the Roman fleet to the eastern Aegean island of Chios, where he was betrayed as a Christian to the admiral of the fleet.
He boldly professed himself to worship Christ, and refused to make pagan sacrifices. He was tormented and beheaded in 251, during the reign of Decius.
