Feast day of St. Demetrius the New, patron saint of Bucharest, celebrated

Pilgrims from around Romania gathered in Bucharest this week to venerate the memory of St. Demetrius the New, the protector and patron saint of the Romanian capital.

Worshipful commemorations were celebrated on Wednesday with a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy officiated by the Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, in a specially modified courtyard outside the Archdiocese Cathedral in Bucharest.
