Feast Days of Saint Paraskevi and Saint Panteleimon in Neochorion, Bosphorus

On Friday, 26 July 2024, the Church celebrated the memory of the Holy Glorious Martyr Saint Paraskevi. A service of supplication to the Saint was performed late in the afternoon at Sacred Spring of Saint Paraskevi, located within the Community of Neochorion on the Bosphorus. An Artoklasia (Blessing of the five loaves) was blessed for the health of the parishioners, celebrants, and the pious pilgrims who filled the spacious courtyard of the Sacred Spring.

His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Kydonia, Patriarchal Supervisor of the Bosphorus Region, presided over the service. The Holy Sermon was preached by Archimandrite Nathaniel Filios of the Ecumenical Throne from the Holy Metropolis of Florina, who interpreted the apolytikion of the Saint.

After the Vespers Service, bread, various sweets, and soft drinks were distributed in the courtyard, providing an opportunity for the faithful attendees to congratulate and extend their best wishes to Mrs. Paraskevi-Rea Kalfaoglou, President of the Community of Saint Nicholas.

On Saturday, 27 July 2024, the Church celebrated the memory of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon. The Great Vespers Service was performed at the Church of Panagia Koumariotissa, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Kydonia, alongside His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Krini, Patriarchal Exarch of Malta. The service was attended by the Grand Preacher Archimandrite Panaretos, Archimandrite Nathaniel Filios of the Ecumenical Throne, Archimandrite Timotheos Railakis-Vranas, and Protopresbyter Konstantinos Bartholomew, Hierarchical Vicar of the Community of Neochorion.

Archimandrite Nathaniel preached the holy sermon, emphasising the gift of Saint Panteleimon’s mercy and charity. Before the Dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Athenagoras welcomed Metropolitan Kyrillos and wished Archon Panteleimon Vigas, the Grand Archivist of the Holy and Great Church of Christ, the constant grace of God, health, and an ever-increasing love for God and humanity.

The Vespers service was followed by the distribution of blessed Artos and a reception in the courtyard of the Church of Panagia Koumariotissa, where the faithful had the opportunity to congratulate Archon Panteleimon Vigas and extend their best wishes for his name day celebration.
