The Church today venerates the memory of St. Nicholas of Thessaloniki, St. Philumenus of Lycaonia, who was martyred during the reign of the Roman Emperor Aurelian, and the neo-martyr Archimandrite Philumenus of Cyprus, who was martyred at the Orthodox Monastery of Jacob’s Well, near the city of Samaria in the West Bank on Nov. 29, 1979. The latter was canonized by the Jerusalem Patriarchate in September 2009.

A feature posted today on the pages of the Orthodoxia Νews Αgency on the martyrdom of Philumenus includes the testament of Archimandrite Justin, who succeeded the saint as the hegumen, or Abbott, of the Monastery of Jacob’s Well.

The Very Reverend Archimandrite Justin also showed the incorrupt relics of St. Philumenus.
