With the blessings of His Grace Bishop Silvestros, Rev Fr Chrysostomos Koolya celebrated the first pre-sanctified liturgy of the Great Fast today’s morning at Holy Resurrection Cathedral.
In his homily, the Vicar General reminded the Orthodox faithfuls of the significance of the Pre-sanctified liturgy in which he noted that it helps the fasters to sustain their lenten effort by divinely communing with God.
He added that, “the regular Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom is considered a festival celebration because it observes the resurrection of Jesus, deviating from the penitential nature of the Great Fast _ that is why the Pre-sanctified Liturgy is offered in substitute during weekdays of the Great Lent”.
