Five Loaves Initiative Melbourne: Distribution of sleeping bags and warm clothing to those in need

On Wednesday, the 5 July 2023, volunteers from the Five Loaves Initiative went to Cleve Gardens in St Kilda to distribute sleeping bags and puffer jackets to people experiencing homelessness, disadvantage, and social exclusion.

This destination is known to the most vulnerable people in our community as a place to come on a Wednesday evening for hot meals and other needs donated by charities. It was a blessing that the Five Loaves Initiative was part of this and provided much-needed sleeping bags and jackets to those doing it tough and sleeping on the streets.

On Thursday 6 July, another group of volunteers went to the Victoria Market and gave out the remaining jackets, beanies, and thermal undergarments.

Volunteering was a rewarding experience that allowed us to positively impact the lives of those in great need in our community. The Five Loaves Initiative relies on dedicated volunteers’ support to carry out its mission, and your time and effort can make a difference.

The Five Loaves Initiative could not assist those in need without contributions and donations. Corporate and individual gifts of even modest amounts will help us support more desperate people and families.

The Five Loaved Initiative would like to thank the gentlemen from Sydney who sent us sleeping bags, beanies and over 300 puffer jackets. As well as to a wonderful lady with a thermal undergarment business in Oakleigh who donated the thermal undergarments. People like this make a difference, and you, too, can in some way by donating items, funds, or your time to the Five Loaves initiative.
