Former Metropolitan of Trikkis & Stagi Alexios reposes in the Lord

The Metropolis of Trikkis and Stagi has announced the passing of the its former Metropolitan, Alexios.
The former Metropolitan was born Theodoros Michalopoulos in Piraeus in 1932. He graduated from the Theological School of the University of Athens in 1960, having first became a monk at the Penteli Monastery

1954. Alexios was ordained a deacon in the same year. He was ordained as a Presbyter in 1961, followed by his ordination as an archimandrite the same day.

In October 1981, he was elected Metropolitan of Trikkis and Stagoi, covering the prefecture of Trikala in central Greece.

Alexios resigned in 2015 as Metropolitan.
