Four-day commemorations for patron saint of Zakynthos, Dionysius, commence, albeit with strict pandemic restrictions in place

A four-day period of special services and celebrations began on Wednesday on the Ionian island of Zakynthos, ahead of Thursday’s feast day of Dionysius of Zakynthos, the island’s patron saint.
In stark difference to previous years’ splendorous and reverent services and traditions, this year’s commemorations – including a litany of the saint’s Holy Relics – will be held under the strict restrictions imposed due to the pandemic.
