Greek Dep. FM visits Holy & Great Monastery of Vatopedi – (PHOTOS)
Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Antonis Diamataris, was formally welcomed on Saturday at the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on the semi-autonomous monastic community of Mt. Athos. The Greek minister was greeted by the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, with Diamataris expressing his thanks for the warm reception and his elation and rejoicing for arriving on the Athonite monastic community.
Diamataris, who holds the expatriate Greeks and religious diplomacy portfolio, arrived on Mt. Athos on the occasion of a visit by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I.
He will represent the Greek government and prime minister in events and services attended by the Ecumenical Patriarch on the semi-autonomous monastic community.
The Metropolitan of Dodoni (NW Greece), His Eminence Chrysostomos, and the Metropolitan of Austria and Exarch of Hungary & Central Europe, His Eminence Arsenios, have also arrived at Vatopedi.
