Greek minister expresses public appreciation to Orthodox Church for stance during coronavirus pandemic

Greece education and religious affairs minister, during a nationally televised press briefing on Wednesday afternoon, thanked the Autocephalous Church of Greece for its stance amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and especially during Holy and Great Easter Week, between April 12 and April 19 in the east Mediterranean nation.

“We warmly thank the Church of Greece for the tremendously responsible stance it showed in implementing restrictive measures, especially during the period of Pascha (Easter),” Minister Niki Kerameos said.

She spoke during the unveiling of a plan to gradually open schools in the country and allow worshipers back to churches and chapels.

Kerameos reminded that guidelines and precautions will be in place, including personal responsibility, such as wearing masks in public spaces.
