The GOYA of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity began a new initiative called Green GOYA. During their Saturday of Lazarus retreat, the GOYAns discussed environmentalism and climate justice in the Orthodox Church headed by our Ecumenical Patriarch. His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has affectionately earned the title “Green Patriarch” and in 2008 was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World for “defining environmentalism as a spiritual responsibility. The GOYAns planted new flowers where an old tree used to stand near the entrance of the Cathedral School.
