Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada Mourns Loss of Life in Nova Scotia

Christ is Risen!

His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios, together with the entire plenitude of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada, mourns the tragic and senseless loss of life that took place in Nova Scotia yesterday.

This heartbreaking incident claimed the life of 18 precious souls, including RCMP Constable Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year veteran of the police force.

The Archdiocese grieves with all of those affected by this act of unspeakable violence and prays for the repose of the souls of all the victims that they may be in the bosom of the Resurrected Lord.

Following news of the killings, Archbishop Sotirios conducted a short prayer service in his private chapel dedicated to the Life-Giving Font, for all of the victims, as well as for the perpetrator of the worst shooting in Canadian history to be forgiven.

As Orthodox Christians celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, may the knowledge of eternal life provide hope and comfort to the affected families and friends during this most difficult time.”
