The relevant Greek health minister, Vassilis Kikilias, on Thursday said private and institutional donations, in materials and in monetary contributions, to the country’s public health care system, and in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, have reached nearly 90 million euros. The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece, regional Metropolises in the country and individual parishes have been at the forefront of the efforts to aid the public health sector.

Moreover, the figure does not include donations made by Metropolises to facilities in their ecclesiastical jurisdiction.

The Church’s charity arm, Apostoli, is also continuing its meals to doors program, while volunteers are providing material support to people in need at their homes.
