Athens on Friday appeared satisfied with results from the previous day’s EU Council Summit in Brussels, which focused on EU-Turkey relations and what the Greek and Cypriot governments have charged are systematic and increasing provocations and belligerence in the eastern Mediterranean.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his government’s satisfaction with the conclusions of the summit, upon arriving for a second day of the extraordinary European Council summit.

Mitsotakis said the EU has clearly outlined the consequences, if Turkey continues its hostile behavior.

Specifically, the Greek premier underlined that “…The EU sent a clear message of unity, solidarity and determination. It made it very clear that the ending of any unilateral action is a condition for improving EU-Turkey relations, something that we all want. It also made absolutely clear, however, what the consequences will be if Turkey continues its aggressive behavior. Greece is absolutely satisfied with the conclusions of the summit and we look forward to the start of exploratory contacts as soon as possible, as both sides have committed to doing.”
