The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople continued its sessions at the Orthodox Center in Chambésy, outside Geneva, Switzerland, under the chairmanship of the Ecumenical Patriarch, His All Holiness Bartholomew.
The Holy and Sacred Synod emphasized that the sacrament of the Holy Communion is non-negotiable and that absolutely no change in the manner in which the sacrament is partaken and celebrated will be taken.

A relevant statement noted that “…the Mystery of the Divine Eucharist is non-negotiable, because we believe that through it, the Body and Blood of the Savior Christ is transmitted to the faithful … it is impossible that through this Mystery of Mysteries any disease might be communicated to those who partake.”
