Initiative for return of Parthenon Marbles by Greece’s bar associations

An initiative by the country’s Bar Association presidents to press for a return of the Parthenon Marbles, from their current display in the British Museum, has been placed under the auspices of the Greek President of the Republic.
President Prokopis Pavlopoulos received Athens Bar Association and National Bar Association President Dimitris Vervesos,with the latter briefing him over the initiative, with a first meeting of members of a steering committee set for next month.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece have been invited to attend the Jan. 20, 2020 meeting.
