Large crowds gathered for the procession of the Holy Cincture of the Theotokos in Paralimni, Cyprus
With tears in their eyes and devout prayers, thousands of Cypriots accompanied the Holy Cincture of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Holy Litany that took place in Paralimni in the province of the free Ammochostos on Saturday night.
Cypriots young and old flooded the streets of the town while the bands of the Municipality and the associations led a route that started from the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint George and passed through the main streets. The relic of the Holy Theotokos was processed by His Eminence Metropolitan Vasilios of Constantia and Ammochostos, joined by the Abbot of the Great and Holy Vatopedi Monastery, Geronda Ephraim, Vatopedi Fathers and Priests of the Metropolis making prayers for health and for the faithful who have fallen asleep in various parts of the city.
The Holy Cincture (Sash) also entered the Holy Churches that were located on the way of the Procession where prayers were performed observing the formality which is followed on Good Friday during the procession of the Epitaphios.
The moments were quite moving for the people of Cyprus that after 34 years the Holy Cincture was once again in their cities and in their homes.
They all united their desires, their anxieties and their requests in a common prayer, having the Virgin Mary as Intercessor and Shelter for the long-suffering Cyprus.
