The municipality of Limassol, on the occasion of the 1400-year anniversary of the repose of St. John the Merciful, the Patriarch of Alexandria and the patron saint of the coastal Cypriot city, has declared 2019 as dedicated to the Christian saint.

A procession of an exact replica of St. Constantine’s True Cross, which was conveyed from the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, was held on Tuesday afternoon at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Limassol, followed by a Vespers service.

The Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of Vatopedi, arrived in Cyprus this week at the head of an Athonite delegation, at the invitation of the Holy Metropolis of Limassol.
