Liturgical schedule of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, His Grace Bishop Nektarios of Diokleia, and His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos
The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America announces the liturgical schedule of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, as well as those of His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, Chief Secretary of the Holy Eparchial Synod, His Grace Bishop Nektarios of Diokleia, National Chancellor, and His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos.
The schedules not only serve as a practical guide for the all who wish to participate, but also ignite a sense of anticipation and reverence, uniting the faithful in the shared commitment to honor and celebrate the holiest time of the Orthodox liturgical year.
The Archbishop notably stated: “The close of Great Lent heralds the beginning of Holy and Great Week, which for us Orthodox Christians is a sacred journey marked by reflection, prayer, repentance, and ultimate celebration. The divine services and solemn rituals of this truly Great Week guide us through the passion, death, and burial of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lead us to his glorious Resurrection – the jubilant proclamation of Pascha. Each service commemorates a certain event which holds profound spiritual meaning, fostering a collective renewal of faith and devotion. I once again look forward to visiting as many parishes as I can, to pray these solemn services with the devout faithful of our Sacred Archdiocese. This year it brings me great joy that my brother hierarchs, His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, His Grace Bishop Nektarios of Diokleia, and His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos will celebrate the services of Holy Week throughout the Archdiocesan District and that collectively we will visit over 45 of our parishes. We encourage all the faithful to make a special effort to attend as many services as they are able to – to walk with the Lord through his voluntary passion and share in the delight of his most glorious Resurrection. Καλή Ανάσταση!”
