Greece’s government spokesman on Wednesday said a return to normalcy will come gradually and will be based on the epidemiological data focusing on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, whose “second wave” in the east Mediterranean country is significantly more acute than in the spring.

Greece is currently in a three-week partial lockdown, which includes a strict 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew for all non-essential movement outdoors.

The current restrictions are due to end on Nov. 30, although most analysts believe they will extended into December, at least in the hardest-hit areas of the country.

Spokesman Stelios Petsas an initial plan to ease restrictions envisions that eateries and cafes open before Christmas.
