The life and works of neomartyr St. Nectarios of Aegina, the Metropolitan of Pentapolis, will reportedly be seen on the “Big Screen” in the coming period, as a Hollywood production is headed into production.

The working title of the film, “Man of God”, will be directed by US-based director Jelena Popovic, who was inspired by the life of the neomartyr after reading a book on his life in 2012.

Filming is set to include the island of Aegina, in the Saronic Gulf, across from the greater Athens area, well as the Aeginitio Hospital in downtown Athens, where the venerated saint was reposed in the Lord.

Several American and Greek actors and actresses have been cited for the cast, including Aris Servetalis, in the leading role of St. Nectarios.

Additionally, young Greek actress Marthilia Svarna, who recently starred in a theatrical play in Hollywood and studied cinema in the United States, is reportedly set to play the role of Nun Efthymia, who was with St. Nectarios at the moment of his death.

The saint’s clothes accounted for the first miracle attributed to St. Nectarios, as a paralyzed man who wore them then walked.

Other reports point to a possible role for Hollywood actor Jonathan Jackson, and even Mickey Rourke and Jennifer Aniston, while the name of Tom Hanks has been mentioned as a possible co-producer.
