French authorities continued a manhunt on Monday for a suspect that critically wounded a Greek Orthodox priest in Lyon, France over the weekend.
In an announcement, the Orthodox Metropolis of France expressed great sorrow over the attack on Fr. Nikolaos Kakavelakis, who was wounded by a suspect firing a sawed-off shotgun outside the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin, in the French city.
Fr. Nikolaos served in the diocese of France as a clergyman until recently, and he was due to return to Greece.
