Meatfare Sunday Divine Liturgy in the Metropolis of Chalcedon
The third Sunday of the Triodion is dedicated to the most fearful event in human history, the coming Judgment of the world. The remembrance of the fearful coming Judgment at the beginning of the Triodion is necessary, because the ultimate goal of our entire spiritual struggle is to find ourselves at the right hand of the Master and Lord Jesus Christ.
On the morning of Meatfare (judgement) Sunday, 10 March 2024, at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity of the Metropolis of Chalcedon, His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon officiated from the throne for the Matins and Divine Liturgy. The sacrament of the Holy Eucharist which conducted by the Protosyncellus of the Metropolis, Archimandrite Evgenios Karatzas along with Deacon Asterios Bardakçı.
Many faithful also attended the Divine Liturgy, while at the conclusion of the Liturgy Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel spoke to the faithful congregation, analysing the gospel passage of the day and emphasising that the criterion by which God will judge each of us is Love.
