The Archbishop of Podolski and primate of the diocese of Berlin and Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Eminence Tikhon, officiated at a memorial service this week in Slovenia for the Russian servicemen who fell in World War I battles or were held as POWs in the southeast European country.

The memorial service was held at the Russian Orthodox Chapel of St. Vladimir at the Vršič Pass. The chapel, which serves as a war memorial today, was built by Russian prisoners of war engaged in forced labor in the area during the First World War.
