Metropolitan Bishop of Montenegro calls on govt, deputies not to ratify contentious draft law on religious institutions
Amphilochios reiterated that the Orthodox Church in Montenegro does not desire or seek privileges, while adding that any new legal framework on religious institutions in the country must be the product of “an active and responsible dialogue between the government, Churches, religious communities and legal experts, and based on the binding provisions of international law and the Montenegrin constitution.”
The Metropolitan Bishop of Montenegro also warned that the contentious draft bill primarily aims at damaging the Serbian Orthodox Church, by confiscating its historic churches and monasteries in the small Adriatic country.
