The Metropolitan of Kastoria, His Eminence Seraphim, reiterated that he is in favor of measures and precautions to prevent exposure to the coronavirus, but that he’s also against what he called a “terrorizing” of public opinion.

He Eminence spoke to the Orthodoxia News Agency and journalist Maria Giachnaki this week.

In other comments, the Metropolitan of Kastoria referred to the difficult times faced humanity amid the pandemic, while also reminding that the Church has stood, once again, by the side of the faithful in need.

Asked about the issue of Holy Communion, His Eminence said “… never in our long history have we had an instance of disease transmission from the Holy Eucharist. Where the Grace of the Holy Spirit exists, natural phenomena become super natural; some of the reactions we witness today are blasphemous towards the sacrament of Holy Communion, because life cannot transmit death.”
