Metropolitan of Montenegro to faithful ahead of election: Vote for ‘people of God’, not those who persecute Church

Citizens of the small Adriatic country of Montenegro head to the polls next Sunday for a general election, during a period plagued by the pandemic as well as the current Montenegro government’s systematic persecution against the Orthodox Church in that country, where Orthodoxy is the predominate and oldest faith in the land.
In a sermon over the weekend, the Metropolitan-Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Amphilochios, called on the faithful to vote for “people of God”, as he stressed, while avoiding candidates who promote illegal laws and persecute the Church, as he underlined.
