Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos to visit Australia
His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, will depart tomorrow for Australia, with his first stop being Sydney and his second destination being Melbourne, bringing fragments of the holy relics of the Four Holy New Martyrs of Rethymno, Manuel, Angelos, George and Nicholas.
The relevant press release of the Holy Metropolis states:
“Following the kind invitation of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and a relevant request from the Cretans of Melbourne, His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, accompanied by the Archimandrites, Very Rev. Father Vasileios Papadakis, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Anastasia of Rome in Rethymno, and Very Rev. Theologos Papalevyzakis, Spiritual Counsellor of the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Arkadi, departs for Australia, on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, in order to bring fragments of the holy relics of the Four Holy New Martyrs of Rethymno, Manuel, Angelos, George and Nicholas, for the blessing of the Cretans and all the devout Christians of Melbourne.
His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos and his entourage will initially visit Sydney, headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, and then, together with His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, will travel to Melbourne for the official delivery of the holy relics, while they will return, God willing, to Rethymno, on Wednesday, 18 December 2024.
