Metropolitan Vladimir participated in the ordinary session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church

On Tuesday, 29 October 2019, Metropolitan Vladimir participated in the ordinary session of the Holy Synod of the ROC at the Patriarchal Residence in the St. Daniel Monastery, Moscow.

The session was chaired by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia.

The Synod heard and accepted the petition of Metropolitan Sava of Tver and Kazan concerning dismissal from the position of chairman of the Executive Department of Moscow Patriarchate, appointing to this position Bishop Dionisy of Voskresenk, former first vice chairman of the Executive Department of Moscow Patriarchate.

The Synod also examined and discussed the inclusion of new names among the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Orthodox Church.

A series of aspects of Church life were discussed, and Patriarch Kirill presented a report on activities and events that occurred in the previous quarter.

The Synod’s decisions were commented by Vladimir Legoida, Chairman of the Synodal Department of Church Relations with the Society and Mass-Media.
