Mitsotakis receives Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodoros II in Athens

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday afternoon received the visiting Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Divine Beatidue Theodoros II, at the Maximos Mansion government house.
According to reports, issues of mutual interest were discussed, particularly the Alexandria Patriarchate’s significant missionary work in sub-Saharan Africa, as attested by the daily reports posted on the pages of the Orthodoxia news agency.
Among others, Theodoros requested the continuing support of the Greek premier and the Greek state for the missionary and humanitarian efforts undertaken by the Patriarchate.
Additionally, particular emphasis was placed on the centuries-old ties of friendship between Greece and Egypt, with the Patriarch extending an invitation to Mitsotakis to visit Alexandria and the Patriarchate’s seat.
On his part, Mitsotakis thanked His Divine Beatitude Theodoros for hsi visit, while reiterating Athens’ continuing support for the Patriarchate and his personal esteem for the Patriarch.
