More heartbreaking images from the Turkish-occupied areas of Cyprus came to the limelight this week, showing ruined churches and vandalized cemeteries, nearly half a century after the barbaric Turkish invasion of the island republic and the continued illegal occupation of one-third of the EU member-state’s territory.
In a post on the social media account of the Holy Metropolis of Constantias and Ammohostos, a portion of which remains under the occupation, Fr. Panagiotis Papageorgiou displayed shocking images of the destruction of the Greek Cypriot and Orthodox Christian heritage of Cyprus by Turkish forces.
