“Navigating to Freedom”: New York Celebrates the 200 Years of the Greek Revolution with a Unique and Impressive Event

A brilliant undertaking of remembrance and honoring of the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Hellenic Revolution of 1821, organized by the company Global Alive LLC based in New York, with the aim of promoting Greece and the most significant anniversary for modern Hellenism throughout the Hellenic Diaspora community.
The event, with the thematic title “On the path set by our ancestors. Sailing to Freedom” will take place on June 6, 2021. The event will be a flotilla of sail boats, yachts, and variety of sea faring vessels all adorned with the Hellenic colors and symbols of the Revolution making an impressive voyage in the waters of ​​the New York City harbor and ending at the Statue of Liberty, where the symbolism of the message of the fighters of 1821 who set Freedom as the supreme asset of the Greek nation, finally achieving what seemed the impossible at that time.
The event will culminate with Katerina Soldatou, the internationally renowned aerial performer, who will perform an extreme aerial dance show from the main mast of the boat, tied with huge blue and white silk fabrics. This spectacular show of Ms Soldatou, spinning in the void, will represent the courageous decision that our ancestors took in 1821 to defy the mighty Ottoman Empire. Supplementing this endeavor will be our team collaborators, the director Costas Kimoulis who will undertake the filming and live screening of the event, as well as the guidance of Nikos Terzis, a soprano from a New York music conservatory, accompanied by cello and keys, who will musically enhance this performance.
Representatives of international media will be on board the two side sailboats as the convoy reaches the Statue of Liberty. The event is undertaken with the support of many significant figures and organizations of the local Greek Diaspora community.
