Greek Orthodox Archimandrite Epifanios was ordained as the Autochephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s (OCU) Bishop of Olvia on the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman — at the St. Michael Cathedral in Kiev.

Members of the Ukrainian Church’s Holy Synod elected Epifanios as the bishop of the ecclesiastical jurisdiction, on the shores of the northern Black Sea, earlier this month.

The ordination was presided by the primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine — the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, His Eminence Epiphanius, and attended by a delegation from the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

The new Bishop of Olvia is expected to oversee parishes with Greek-speaking Orthodox faithful in the Ukraine.
